No matter what happens next, he filled us with hope and optimism and that can be enough to make THE change. Because nothing can stand in the way of the voice of millions of people who fight for their ideals. Today, as I watched him speak, I saw a better future.

Quero acreditar que ele vai fazer toda a diferença. Vivo neste estúpido pessimismo de achar que o mundo está a caminhar no rumo errado há muito tempo e, voltar atrás e corrigir os erros, é cada vez mais difícil.
Não acredito que um homem consegue mudar o mundo sozinho. É preciso juntar muitas vontades. Obama ganhou e, para já, uniu muita gente em seu apoio. Só isso já é um óptimo começo. O mundo ficou feliz com a sua vitória. "Parece que é a eleição do presidente do mundo" - dizia eu no outro dia. É o mais próximo que temos de um presidente do mundo e, até ver, é o certo.
Nunca na vida senti que vivi um dia histórico na história da História Mundial (trocadilhos), mas na segunda-feira de manhã achei que esse dia tinha acontecido e eu tinha estado cá para vê-lo...mesmo que tudo se tenha passado enquanto eu dormia. :-)

"U.S. bids to stop G8 push for climate deal

LONDON (Reuters) - The United States is battling to stop next month's Group of Eight summit in Germany from pushing for urgent talks on a new deal to fight global warming after the Kyoto Protocol lapses in 2012.

In a draft of the final communique for the June 6-8 summit seen by Reuters, Washington wants references taken out to the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for a U.N. conference in Bali in December to open talks on a new global deal......."

You turn on the TV. You listen to a president, who has sent many soldiers to kill and be killed in Iraq and insists on not prohibiting guns in his country, saying that he is sad and shocked with what happened. Do you believe him? Do you trust him?

If you don't prevent violence outside walls, how can you prevent it inside?
